I decided to join the PTFA in 2016, when my son joined WHS, as I believe these few years are the most important in our children lives as they slowly entering adulthood and more so need our support and attention. The PTFA enables parents to establish a symbiotic relationship with the school and teachers to provide a happy learning environment where children could develop their abilities and knowledge. Although I trained as an architect being a mum of 4 is most rewarding and my main endeavor is helping them develop a noble and upright character, not always easy as I work at Hansett.com as a quality control officer maintaining ISO 9001 standards, while running a local virtues class “The Friends Club” for the 4 to 11 years old for the past 6 years and a Junior Youth group “Chipstead JY group” for the 11 to 15 years old, both as a voluntary service project. Making sure my children learn about respect, unity in diversity and the importance of service to community.
This year I took the post of treasurer of the PTFA, and see first hand the benefit our fundraising provide to the school. I.e. Recently helping purchase 200 books for the maths department or keyboards for music, donation for the drama and “Billy Elliot” show or recently the renewal of the lighting system in the main hall.
But all this aside come and join us and meet some wonderful parents who once a months meet to plan as best they could fundraising events and fantastic shows that strengthen our WHS community. “For what pleasure can compare to the pleasure of bringing joy and hope to other hearts.”
